Charles Leclerc finished fastest in second practice for theHungarian Grand Prix as teams played catch up following therain-affected first hour. The Ferrari driver set a best time of1:17.686 to finish just 0.015secs faster than McLaren's LandoNorris. Pierre Gasly was third fastest for Alpine, though the timeswere largely unrepresentative as varying run plans were performedunder Pirelli's 'Alternative Tyre Allocation' trial - with two setsfewer available to teams across the weekend. Thankfully for allinvolved, practice programmes were completed after rain disruptedFP1, with Medium and Soft tyre runs across the field. Unlike thefirst hour of running, there were no red flag delays for incidents,though Oscar Piastri was confined to his garage for 20 minuteshaving broken his floor. Sergio Perez was on a recovery missionafter his early crash in first practice, but a lock-up on his Softtyre run left him a tyre set down and a lap time good enough onlyfor 18th. Yuki Tsunoda set an early lap time on the Softs to finishfourth fastest, ahead of the second Alpine of Esteban Ocon. Haas'Nico Hulkenberg was sixth fastest ahead of Alfa Romeo's ValtteriBottas and Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso. Zhou Guanyu was thesecond Alfa Romeo in the top 10 ahead of Carlos Sainz's Ferrari,with Max Verstappen only 11th fastest for Red Bull. DanielRicciardo was only seven-tenths off the pace in 14th forAlphaTauri, whilst Lewis Hamilton was the first to be outside asecond from Leclerc in 16th. Perez was 18th, Piastri 19th andGeorge Russell 20th.
